New Appointments at the USC Center for Sustainability Solutions

Professor Detlof von Winterfeldt will take responsibility as the Executive Director of the Center for Sustainability Solutions (CSS), an appointment confirmed by Yannis Yortsos. Dean of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and Dana Goldman, Dean of the Sol Price School of Public Policy.

Professor von Winterfelt, who had previously served as Co-Director of CSS, is the inaugural J.A. Tiberti Chiar of Ethics and Decision Making and Professor of Systems Engineering at the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in the Viterbi School of Engineering. He holds a joint appointment as Professor of Public Policy at the Sol Price School of Public Policy.

Professor Mahta Moghaddam, who also served as CSS Co-Director, will now assume the role of the center’s Director of Research. Professor Moghaddam, who was recently named a USC Distinguished Professor, holds the Ming Hsieh Chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering-Electrophysics at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, where she is a Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Both Professor von Winterfeldt and Professor Moghaddam are members of USC President Carol L. Folt’s Presidential Sustainability Working Group.
