CSS Brings Sustainability Leaders Together

The USC Center for Sustainability Solutions (CSS) brought together academic and business leaders in sustainability for a networking dinner during the 16th annual annual VerdeXchange Conference.

The event, held at the Omni Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles (May 1), included opening remarks by David Abel, Chairman of VerdeXchange as well as a presentation by Detlof von Winterfeldt, Executive Director of CSS, who provided information on CSS activities and an update on the progress made by the USC Presidential Working group on Sustainability.

Mick Dalrymple, USC’s Chief Sustainability Officer, presented the university’s recent efforts towards sustainability, including an ambitious program to reach carbon neutrality by 2025.

The event, attended by members of the CSS Research and Regional Advisory boards, was also an opportunity for USC undergraduate students participating in the CSS Grand Challenge Fellowship Program to network and share information about their research.

The VerdeXchange conference of global & California marketmakers (April 30 -May 3) brought together policymakers, entrepreneurs and other sustainability leaders to discuss clean energy and decarbonization solutions.
