Research Assistantship Opening at the USC Center for Sustainability Solutions
The USC Center for Sustainability Solutions (CSS) has an opening for a 50% graduate research assistant (GRA) effective immediately. The assistantship includes a tuition-and-fee waiver and a 9-month stipend. The position may be renewed for up to 3 years subject to satisfactory progress. Responsibilities
- Mentorship:
- Assist CSS co-Directors and other CSS team members in developing and executing mentorship plans for the CSS Undergraduate Sustainability Grand Challenge Fellowship (USGCF) recipients
- Work directly with the USGCF fellows to guide, monitor, and evaluate their progress
- Provide informal periodic reports to CSS leadership on USGCF fellows’ progress
- Schedule quarterly progress reviews for USGCF fellows
- Research:
- Assist in research for a research project funded by METRANS (Metropolitan Transportation Consortium) on student commuting and carbon emissions
- Analyze the data from two large data sets (USC’s annual AQMD survey and USC’s student sustainability and commuting survey)
- Develop, implement and analyze a survey of student preferences for low carbon commuting modes
- Assist in publishing papers on the results of the METRANS study.
- Dedicate 20 hours per week to above tasks
